Mammography Technologist
LOCATION: Calgary
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Preparation
- Responsible for processing patient and ensuring that all-pertinent information is documented on the requisition.
- Ensuring that the Radiologist has all necessary previous films before interpretation of the case.
- Responsible for ensuring that the proper views are obtained and patient history is complete for interpretation of the case.
- Ensures that all STAT or unusual cases are read immediately and that the referring physician is informed of results immediately.
- Responsible for ensuring that patient exam is carried out in a manner, which ensures that the patient’s welfare and privacy is respected.
Performance of X-ray Procedures
- General radiography
- Mammography exams
- Fluoroscopy
Quality Control
- Ensures (and monitors) all quality control assessments are performed as required.
- Responsible for all QC testing on mammography unit and processor.
Equipment Maintenance
- Observes and reports all malfunctions in Mammography equipment.
- Follows manufacturer's guidelines for operation, maintenance and minor trouble-shooting.
- Maintains all required logbooks for routine Mammography equipment maintenance.
- Responsible for ensuring the cleanliness of the x-ray equipment and x-ray room.
Reporting
- Signs all required documentation. Responsible for ensuring all abnormal and urgent cases are handled as outlined in departmental guidelines.
Safety
- Cleans, tidies and disinfects X-ray equipment and change rooms. Ensures log books are maintained and all fire and safety regulations are followed. Follows established health and safety procedures.
Regulations
- Complies with all Company and Government Regulations.
- Maintains continuing CAMRT registration and medical educational requirements necessary for ongoing CAMRT certification.
Other
- Under direction of the Charge or designate, assists other staff members when workload is completed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- CMRTO registration required.
- Good command of the English language.
- Demonstrated organizational, communication and interpersonal skills essential.
