President & Chief Executive Officer
Thomas Wellner was appointed by the Board of Directors to President & CEO effective February 6, 2012. Mr. Wellner brings to CML a broad range of leadership experience gained from 20 years with Eli Lilly & Co. in senior roles in Canada, China, United States, Latin America, and the United Kingdom. From 2004 to 2007, he was President and General Manager of Lilly Deutschland GmbH, which, during his tenure, had approximately 1,200 employees and sales of some $800 million. More recently, Mr. Wellner has been engaged in a number of early stage biopharmaceutical companies in Toronto, including as President and CEO of Therapure Biopharma, Mississauga, from 2008 to 2011. He is a graduate of Queen's University (B.Sc. Hons. Life Sciences).
Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Weber is a Chartered Accountant and holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Prior to joining CML in 2006, Mr. Weber was Chief Financial Officer of St. Joseph Communications where his responsibilities included raising capital, financial reporting, corporate procurement, mergers and acquisitions, and risk management. Prior thereto, he served as Vice President, Finance and Secretary, at Livingston Group Inc. and was formerly a Tax Manager at PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Mr. Weber is responsible for CML HealthCare’s Finance and Administration functions and oversees the Fund’s disclosure practices. Mr. Weber is a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants.
Senior Vice President, Laboratory Services
Mr. Crawford is a Chartered Accountant and holds an Honours Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. Mr. Crawford has extensive experience in the medical diagnostic services industry having served as the President and CEO of MDS Inc. from 1996 to 2005. Prior to joining CML in 2009, Mr. Crawford was the President & CEO of EORLA, a start-up clinical services delivery organization established to define, implement, and drive the change required to meet current and planned diagostic service, research and teaching requirements on a regional basis for 16 acute care hospitals in Eastern Ontario. From 2006 to 2008, Mr. Crawford was the Chief Operating Officer for Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT.
Senior Vice President, Imaging
Mr. Wentzell joined CML in September 2002 as General Manager of CML’s Canadian medical imaging services. During his tenure, Mr. Wentzell was instrumental in growing revenue through acquisitions and organic growth and, at the same time, significantly improving operating margins. Prior to joining CML, Mr. Wentzell spent three years as the General Manager of Bracco Diagnostic Canada Inc., a contrast imaging company.
